Ok, so I found this hilarious. Maybe not the most scientific, but as we wait for Tory’s next post on how nutritional intake can alter dreams (way to post a cliff-hanger, Tory), listen in as the secretary of the British Cheese Board describes to Melissa Block of NPR a little experiment they did exploring how cheese can alter dreams. I’m interested to see if what Tory finds can be related to any way to British cheese.
This is great!! I found a lot of cool stuff regarding tryptophan, the amino acid, that is found in the milk used in cheese. It is the precursor to a number of neurotransmittters–serotonin being one of them. It is, in fact, the only substance that can be converted into serotonin. Cool huh? If you need sleep, than we better start reaching for that tofu, cheese, soy, and milk if we want to get a good night… of dreaming (and sleep)!

That’s awesome, Lauren! I have a bunch of “experiments” to do now with vitamins and cheese before bed.
