This post talks about the similarities between a child’s brain and the entire internet. Throughout history and even know many people have come up with interesting analogies to compare the brain to. Over time many of these analogies included comparing out brain to our latest technological advances. This video explains the similarities between a child’s brain and the internet. It was very relatable because this generation is very involved in technology especially the internet and this video makes the argument that just as you have to watch what information you put in a child’s brain, you also have to watch what you put on the internet. Those connections that are formed in your brain and on the internet are lasting and may affect your life later on. It is also important to know when to disconnect from the internet or the world around you. Over stimulation can have a negative effect on any ones brain and we should be aware of that. I hope you all enjoy the video!
Which Is More Complicated, The ENTIRE Internet, Or One Child’s Brain?
Shamika! I am so glad that I went back and looked at some older posts and found this! What an awesome analogy and super cool video. I think that this anaolgy really “has feet” too as Melissa would say. Starting out with the simple comparison between the plasticity and rapid connection formation in the brain is so similar to the development of technology its crazy! I also think that the mention of stressing the “system” is interesting because the same happens with technology. In general this whole video does a great job at “writing to learn”…or I guess using plain, jargon free language to create a very eloquent and fluid explanation. Great post Shamika!
